Karen A. Khan began her career enforcing employment discrimination laws at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 1989, quickly progressing by her exceptional legal During her tenure at the EEOC, Ms. Khan litigated cases as lead counsel, trained and supervised trial attorneys, and participated in numerous mediations and settlement negotiations. She also oversaw enforcement of settlement agreements, and all related compliance matters. She has trained employers and their employees on all aspects of the laws enforced by the EEOC. For example, while at the EEOC's Miami District Office, Ms. Khan trained the entire management staff of Miami's Metro Dade Police Department on sexual harassment law. Ms. Khan worked in both the Detroit, Michigan and Miami, Florida EEOC Offices and litigated matters in the federal courts of Michigan, Missouri and Florida. In the defense-oriented labor and employment law practice at Jackson Lewis, LLP, Ms. Khan trained and supervised litigation associates and managed all employment law litigation in the firm's Washington, D.C. Office. Serving as lead counsel on all employment law matters, she litigated and tried cases involving a wide variety of employment discrimination claims as well as common law claims. Her practice also included counseling and advising clients on a daily basis regarding their workplace issues, policies and practices. Ms. Khan further expanded her expertise in defending cases alleging systemic and class wide discrimination.
In May of 2001, Ms. Khan formed Khan Romberger, PLLC. Ms. Khan represented management in defense of employment discrimination claims, and selected employees, including attorneys, who were discriminated against. At the request of the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Ms. Khan served on the Merit Selection Panel for the reappointment of a United States Magistrate Judge. She has also served on panels which provided training on employment law issues to the Judges of the Civil Division at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Ms. Khan recently founded The Khan Law Group, PLLC, and is the firm's Managing Partner. She continues to represent both employers and employees in employment discrimination and related claims.
